It is normal to have questions or reservations before seeing a chiropractor. Please see below a list of frequently asked questions about chiropractic.

If can't find what you are looking for, please call or email the practice.

We would be happy to answer any questions.

At the most basic level, Chiropractors are healthcare professionals focused on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, with an emphasis on treatment through manual adjustments and/or manipulation of the spine.

Of course, as professionals, Chiropractors are much more.

Chiropractors work with, rather than against, traditional medical interventions.  We look at treatments that will be most effective with the least amount of artificial intervention in the form of surgeries or prescriptions.

Management of this means looking first to the fundamental structure of the body, the skeleton and it’s nervous system, making sure its is aligned and properly functioning.

Chiropractic care focuses on the restoration of spinal alignment and functionality to the body’s nervous system. Chiropractic treatment is referred to as spinal manipulation therapy (SMT) or a chiropractic adjustment.

The Chiropractor will apply controlled force in a very specific way to restore mobility in the joints.  Sometimes a patient will hear a popping noise as the spine is adjusted, but this is no cause for alarm.  Small pockets of air trapped in the joints cause this noise, and it’s a natural reaction to the treatment.

Chiropractors can also work on the muscles using massage therapy and dry needling.

Your first visit to a chiropractor is an important step towards better health.  Whether you’re seeking relief from pain, improved mobility, or preventive care. When you book your first appointment it will last approximately 45-60 minutes, here’s what you can expect:

  1. Initial Consultation
Before any treatment commences, we start with a consultation. This is a one-on-one conversation in a private space to discuss your health history, current concerns, and any specific symptoms you’re experiencing. We will have provided you with some forms to complete which detail your medical history, lifestyle habits, and any previous injuries or conditions. It is important we know this, so we have a full understanding of your overall health.
  2. Physical Examination
A thorough chiropractic exam will follow. This will include:
    • Postural assessment
    • Range of motion evaluation
    • Specialised tests to pinpoint the source of discomfort.
We do not have X-Ray facilities in this clinic. If imaging of the area is required, we will refer you to another healthcare provider.
  3. Report of Findings
We’ll walk you through our findings and discuss the treatment options best suited for your specific condition. We’ll also explain what to expect from the treatment methods and how often care may be needed. This is a collaborative process, so we encourage you to ask questions to ensure you fully understand your health and treatment plan.
  4. Your First Adjustment (Optional)
Once you have given us your informed consent for treatment. If it is appropriate to do so, we can offer treatment within your first session. This may include spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, stretching, and lifestyle advice.
  5. After your first appointment
We will provide you with an information leaflet that supports what we have discussed in the appointment. We will recommend an ideal treatment schedule and provide you with some advice to support your condition at home.

Our goal is to make you feel informed, comfortable, and confident as you begin your chiropractic journey.

Have questions? Don’t hesitate to reach out—your health is our priority.

The answer to this question depends on you the patient, and your condition. As your Chiropractor I do everything in my power to correct your condition as fast as possible with as few treatments as necessary, ultimately reducing care to an as-needed follow-up plan to maintain your spinal health.

I will also give advice on how to avoid future problems by evaluating lifestyle activities, ergonomics, and/or diet.
